I’ve known my boyfriend since I was in Elementary school. I’ve been close with his family for about ten years now and we were even neighbors growing up. His sister was and is my best friend, but back then, he was just her Star Wars geek older brother haha. We “re-met” when we both played in the pit for our high school’s production of Bye Bye Birdie my freshman year and his junior year. He sat next to me and we would play hang man and dots. We hung out at the cast party on the night of our last show and sat outside looking up at the sky finding shapes in the clouds. A few days later he asked me out on a date and we’ve been together for over two years now. He’s leaving for a month this summer to be with family in Lebanon and will be doing a total of three semesters studying abroad to finish his degree in International Business. It’s sometimes scary anticipating so many different periods of him leaving, but every day we prove how strong we can be and how willing we are to keep fighting.

I’ll separate this because it is so long
Well, I was going on tour with my high school jazz band in Europe for international jazz festivals and such. Our first stop however was to Freiburg, Germany, a small town on the border to France and Switzerland. In Germany was another band of teenagers who would host us. I wasn’t that excited for Germany honestly. Getting off that bus was hell from all the jetlag and sleeping on my friend Chris’ shoulder wasn’t the most comfortable thing in the world. So I walk out, not so nice hair with my glasses and sweatpants on to find my hosts. My actual host Leoni, would not be there at the time. She was in Berlin to watch the Mercedes Benz fashion show, but would be back the next day to see my concert. I met her mom and drove to her house in a small village just out of Freiburg. I washed up and went for an afternoon walk there with my host mom. It was marvelous. Despite all this, the next day, we toured the whole city in a few hours and then I went to rehearsal.

Yes I did, and well the story gets more complicated here.
We had ups and downs in whatever you would call this relationship. I wasn’t particularly ready for a relationship because of my exboyfriend of one and a half years. He never had a girlfriend and was afraid to make this commitment to a girl thousands of miles away. So we pretty much acted like a relationship for 4 months. During that time, we sent each other in a sense, letters of how we felt in our experience with the other in Germany. I finally got to see his view and it assured me so much more of his feelings. On November 19, 2011, he ended our relations, saying it wasn’t really a relationship as his loophole. The few days before, he distanced himself from me. We talked everyday before and now he ignored all my messages. I knew something was wrong and confided in my friends in Germany who were also very close with Paul. None of them knew what was to come, and I cried. However, I didn’t cry when he sent me that message. He couldn’t even tell me over skype because his parents took his internet and he could only speak to me without getting caught. He had his own family issues. He was a child between divorced parents. His dad was German and his mom was Australian (hence the very good english) and they split up when he was 1. His dad found a new family and he has a half sister on that side. His mom had a partner for 10 years and they had a son, his half brother. He lives with his mom. However, his mom and her partner got married a few weeks after I left Germany and their relationship went downhill. He cheated on her and they fought a lot. He left and Paul was left to take care of his broken mom and brother. I never blamed him for leaving me. I was extra stress to his whole family issues. I never hated him for it even though I wanted to. I cared too much about him. I told him I needed some space. However, I wanted to still talk to him so much, I convinced myself I was over him in a few days. It was never true. I was heartbroken and would have to see him in 5 months. We agreed to see what would happen after, but I doubted all of his words to me, all of it felt like a lie. But my friend Simon told me Paul was devastated when I left Germany. I tried not to believe it and continued my denial. For 5 months I suppressed my feelings. In 3 months, he had a new girlfriend, the same girl I was worried about months before because she liked him so very much. He told me he had no feelings for her etc. yet he could put a commitment to be her boyfriend in no time. I now had no hope for April.

Before I start, I want to say that we know that we are in no way normal. We know it’s not “acceptable”, but should love really have limits? Love is love.

We met over minecraft, nerdy I know, but it’s what defines us. We met on a server, and he courted me with roses and daffodils. When I finally added him on skype, we started chatting. He would do things that annoyed me, but eventually I realized that I was addicted to talking to him. We only started talking on January 27th, but by March 6th I decided to give him a shot. It’s now April 25th and I couldn’t be any happier. I love him so much, and I would do anything for him. The controversial part is that I’m 14 and he’s 20, I’m in New Hampshire and he’s in Florida. Judge us how you wish, but I can’t live without him now that I’ve found him.
